A great team performance this morning against a good Strathaven team who sit 4th in the league. The boys controlled the match from start to finish, scoring 6 goals including another hat-trick from man of the match Gregor and earning another clean sheet.

For the second week in a row we got off to a quick start, with Gregor putting us 1-0 up within 3 minutes. He was on hand to tap in after latching onto a goalie error as he tried to clear a Kaspar cross. This week we had to wait until the 38th minute to extend our lead, as Gregor guided a lovely header into the bottom corner from another Kaspar cross. Then just before half-time it was game over as Kaspar made it 3-0. Jamie’s throw in was glanced backwards by Nathan’s header and Kaspar hooked in a fantastic high volley.

At half-time the key message was more of the same, and once again the boys delivered, producing another 3 goals and clean sheet. On 50 minutes a moment of madness from a Strathaven player earned him a red card, have taken Jamie down just outside the box we were expecting a yellow card, but having stood up and slapped Jamie across the face, he left the ref with no choice. Ciaran then made it 4-0 with a header from Ollie’s cross. Ciaran then turned provider as he laid the ball off to Gregor who hammered home a 20 yarder to complete his hat-trick. Jamie rounded off the scoring to make it 6-0 as Ollie lofted a ball into the penalty box for Jamie to slot home.

So another game where we scored a hatful of goals but could have scored double, kept a clean sheet and got all the subs good game time. A great start to our Saturday morning that makes the 6.30am wake up and 100 mile round trip all worthwhile. The boys have made a good start to their Divisional Cup campaign, 15 goals scored 0 goals conceded, looking forwarding to continuing that run next week at home to Sauchie!
